attempting a beach trip
Leif is gone for a few days, and so I decided to head to the beach with Ami. Due to some overly-idealistic planning on my part, we arrived at the hotel late at night and crawled into bed at 1am. Exhausted from the long drive, I fell asleep confident (or trying to be) that she would sleep her regular ten hours.
But no.
At 7am, she is climbing on top of me. "Mama, I want to go to the beach!" I ignore her, feigning sleep. Undeterred, she puts her face on my face, pressing her mouth onto my mouth. "Mama, rise and shine!"
I grasp for a "positive parenting" tool... "Ami, either you can lie down with me and close your eyes or play quietly on the floor."
She sits straight up in bed, and declares a third option: "I am going to the beach so alone!"
And I bet she would!
It's a good thing I like her... a lot.
Too-early beach, here we come.
